SCHEDULE

 The weekly sessions will begin with a presentation of theoretical and practical aspects of the weekly subject matter, enhanced with videos and student input. Most sessions will then follow up with a case study depicting a real situation and related developmental problem, followed by a discussion and exchanged period.

Integrated Approach to  Environmental Assessment:
Examine theories and policy applied to a wide range of problems arising in the field of environmental law. Canadian Environmental Assessment Act

Conflict Resolutions:
Different mechanisms (norms, entities, Courts, Tribunals institutions, etc) necessary to find peaceful solutions to environmental issues

Nov. 10-12

International  Environmental Law:

Definition, sources, origins, enforceability, Treaties, and relationship to Canadian Law. Overview of the international organizations and global governance.



There will be a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the judicial organ of the United Nations (UN). Each team is allowed to participate. Teams prepare oral and written pleadings arguing both the applicant and respondent positions of the case.
